Multi-award-winning artist, Beyonce, says making history and winning her first Album of the Year accolade at the Grammy awards is an honour that she doesn’t take for granted.
The 43-year-old walked away with the award after she had been snubbed four times before, even though she is the most nominated artist in Grammy history, with 99 nominations, to be exact.
She had been nominated alongside Taylor Swift, André 3000, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, Jacob Collier and Chappell Roan for the coveted award.
The ‘Drunk in Love’ hitmaker also won best country album for ‘Cowboy Carter’, becoming the first black female artist to take the prize.
Congratulations to Beyonce on winning Album of the Year at the Grammys. She is the fourth black woman in the close to 70 year history of that institution to attain this important award which recognises a “body of work”. She deserves it! 🥳

Beyonce wins the award just a year after her husband, Shawn Corey Carter, known as Jay-Z, complained about his wife being overlooked by the Recording Academy.
Despite the breakthrough, however, Kendrick Lamar dominated the night.
He took both Song of the Year and Record of the Year for ‘Not Like Us’.
He walked away with five more trophies to bring his tally up to 22 Grammys throughout his lifetime.
‘Not Like Us’ was awarded five Grammys, for Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and, historically, both Record and Song of the Year.
Nigerian Afrobeats star, Tems, has won her second Grammy for her hit ‘Love Me JeJe’, which has notched up some 20 million views on YouTube.
However, some artists, including SA’s Tyla, were seemingly snubbed of awards and nominations.
Tyla, who won her first Grammy last year, surprisingly didn’t clinch any nominations this year, despite her self-titled debut album having earned widespread praise.
She also decided to not attend the event.
On the other hand, Taylor Swift, despite an impressive six nominations, left empty-handed.
Prior to this year’s awards, Swift had racked up 14 wins throughout her career, including four Album of the Year trophies.
There was also some drama with rapper, Kanye West, arriving at the awards with his wife, Bianca Censori, who appeared naked on the red carpet – to the shock of onlookers.
Reports suggest that the couple was escorted out by security after their red-carpet display.
On the other side, there have been different views to Chris Brown getting the nod and winning an award.
His controversial past has, once again, come back to haunt him, marring his Grammy win.
Brown won second Grammy for Best RnB Album. However, critiques questioned how an abuser was recognised.
His troubles, among other issues he has faced with women, started when he assaulted his former girlfriend Rihanna.
He admitted to the crime and served community service.
I’m screaming at Beyoncé’s reaction to winning the Grammy for Best Country Album. queen!!!!! pic.twitter.com/BArMrfQG4q

Kanye is disgusting. If he wants his wife to walk naked on the Grammy red carpet, then he should do it too. Wondering if he is as vile as another rich man sitting in prison now? Why do men think this is ok? It’s not. It’s a form of ownership to them

Who takes the Grammy’s seriously? Beyoncé won best Country Album. That says a lot.

Honestly, I think The Grammy’s knows the reputation hit it was taking by NOT recognizing her other works ADD to that the fact that the country music awards shut her out NOW they get to look like “the good guys” for being on the right side of history plus the album is GREAT 🤷🏾♀️ https://t.co/yjwSaKtygj
