Minister of Agriculture John Steenhuisen’s appointment of controversial podcaster, Roman Cabanac, to his office has ruffled feathers.

Steenhuisen has named Cabanac as his chief of staff.

Various quarters of society have questioned the Minister’s move and have slammed the Government of National Unity (GNU), saying it continues to slap South Africans in the face.

While Cabanac seems to have cleared his X timeline, formerly known as Twitter, South Africans have brought out the receipts.

Cabanac, who is known for his disputable remarks on X, comes into government after his political party failed to stand the test of time in the 2019 elections.

He was a founding member of the Capitalist Party of South Africa also known as The Purple Cow.

Cabanac’s appointment at the Department of Agriculture has also sparked debate over the DA’s perceived inability to act decisively on racial discrimination.

In June DA MP, Renaldo Gouws, came under fire over a video that was captured in 2009 where he speaks about reverse apartheid.

In one of his videos, he repeatedly says Kill all the K***rs and uses the N… word.

Despite his suspension by the DA, he was recently seen at the induction by the Standing Committee on the Auditor-General, fulfilling his duties as an MP.
