Da Cruz backs Petersen

Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Fernando da Cruz, has come out in defence of goalkeeper, Brandon Petersen, who has come under scrutiny in recent matches following costly errors.

Petersen enjoyed a stellar campaign last season, keeping 15 clean sheets as Amakhosi finished in the top three of the Betway Premiership.

However, the Chiefs skipper has endured a challenging start to the new season, with his last mistake allowing a soft goal in the 2-2 draw against Richards Bay.

His error was also deemed to have contributed to the side being knocked out of the MTN8 by Golden Arrows in the quarter-finals.

“Brandon also made mistakes last season. But he also made a very good season last season. He got a lot of points for his team. I trust him 100%,” the coach said through his interpreter on Wednesday.
