New Springbok flyhalf, Vusi Moyo, is excited to line up alongside back-to-back Rugby World Cup winners in his first Test this Saturday in Durban, with Cobus Reinach backing the under-20 star to handle the step up with ease.
Springbok coach, Rassie Erasmus, named Moyo among four debutants for Saturday’s Nations Championship clash against Wales at Kings Park.
Speaking to the media in Durban on Tuesday, Moyo admitted his heart “skipped a beat” when Erasmus informed him he would make his Test debut.
“It’s very special to be around these guys who have won the World Cup twice. My first memory of Cobus is him scoring three tries against Canada in the 2019 World Cup,” Moyo said.
“It’s every kid’s dream to be a part of the Springbok set-up. When Coach Rassie named the squad on Monday, my heart skipped a beat. I’m just out here to make my family and the people that support me proud,” said the Sharks playmaker.
Asked about the pressure of wearing the No. 10 jersey for the Boks, Moyo said the pace of Test rugby was the biggest adjustment.
“I think the only thing about this set-up, it’s much quicker. At the end of the day, rugby is rugby so I’m very excited.”
