Netball South Africa has confirmed Uganda’s tour to the country as part of preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Games to be staged in Glasgow, Scotland next month.

This follows the announcement of the South African national netball squad by the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) on Wednesday night at Olympic House in Johannesburg.

The Ugandan national team is expected to arrive in South Africa on 12 July 2026. The two sides will play three matches behind closed doors before departing for Glasgow.

South Africa head coach Jenny van Dyk says the fixtures will be crucial in preparing the team for the tournament.

“Preparation is very vital if we are to do well at the upcoming Commonwealth Games. The last time the team was together was February this year and I believe that the warm up matches l against Uganda will really do us good as we prepare ourselves for competition. As a team, we couldn’t have asked for a better opponent that Uganda,” said Van Dyk.

We have faced them a few times in recent years, including at the last Commonwealth Games, and they have proved to be a tough opponent,” she added.
