Back to back Rugby World Cup winning Springbok captain, Siya Kolisi, is backing Bafana Bafana to produce a statement performance when they take on South Korea in their final group match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Thursday morning in Monterrey.
Bafana will meet the Asians in a must-win clash if they are to make history and reach the knockout stages of the World Cup for the first time.
Hugo Broos’ charges currently sit at the bottom of Group A with just one point, following a 2-0 loss to Mexico in their opener and a 1-1 draw against Czechia. A victory against South Korea could see South Africa finish second in the group.
Speaking after the Boks’ 80-31 win over the Barbarians over the weekend, Kolisi expressed optimism about the national football team’s chances.
“It was a tough first loss for Bafana against Mexico, but they answered well with a draw against Czechia in their second game,” he said.
“I really believe Bafana have it in them to beat South Korea.”
“We just need to get behind Bafana because I know for a fact captain, Ronwen Williams, and his team are giving their best at all times,” Kolisi added.
“So let us just be as positive as we can and get behind them.”
