Bafana Bafana have been drawn in Group D of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 qualifiers following the draw held in Cairo, Egypt, on Tuesday.
The South African men’s national team was pitted against co-hosts Kenya, along with Guinea and Eritrea in the group stage.
The 48 teams were drawn into 12 groups of four, with the first matches to played from 21 September, and run until 30 March 2027.
The tournament will take place from 19 June to 17 July 2027 and will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Bafana Bafana exited the previous tournament at the round of 16 stage following a defeat to Cameroon at the Al Medina Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.
Meanwhile, Bafana coach Hugo Broos, is expected to announce his squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup next week Wednesday (27 May), before South Africa takes on Nicaragua in an international friendly on Friday, 29 May at the Orlando Stadium.
Bafana are in Group A of the World Cup alongside Mexico, Czechia, and South Korea.
