Proteas batter, Tristan Stubbs, he is expecting a tough challenge from the West Indies when the two sides meet in their second Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup on Thursday.

South Africa head into the encounter full of confidence after a commanding 76-run victory over co-hosts India in Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, the Windies secured an emphatic 107-run win over Zimbabwe, underlining their firepower.

Stubbs believes the Caribbean side will pose a similar threat to what the Proteas faced against India.

“We even saw in the series that they posted massive scores and all the batters are in really good form, so they bring that challenge with a bowling attack that’s doing really well,” Stubbs said. “So, I think completely it’s different in here but as far as in a way it’s a similar challenge like a really good batting line up. Who can score that big score if you are not on it and a bowling attack that can do a good job at defending.”

“So, yeah, we’ll be ready for Thursday, probably packed similarly to India but we’ll be up for it.” he added.

Stubbs played a key role in Sunday’s statement victory, smashing 44 off just 24 balls to help set up the win.

“Yeah it’s a massive win for us, I think over here especially in the media it was brought out that it’s like a massive contest which it was, but ultimately it was about getting the two points,” he continued.
