Justice Minister, Mmamoloko Kubayi has confirmed that the Ndimande brothers, linked to the murder of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, will be extradited from the Kingdom of Eswatini on Tuesday.
AKA and his chef friend, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, were shot and killed on Florida road in Durban in February 2023.
Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande will join the five other suspects in the Durban High Court on charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The brothers – originally from KwaZulu-Natal – were arrested while hiding in Eswatini, claiming they fled the country due to taxi-related violence.
In a turn of events, the brothers abandoned their bid to appeal their extradition.
Minister’s spokesperson, Terrence Menase, says the Acting Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini has signed off on the extradition order, paving the way for their return.
He adds that details of their next court appearance will be confirmed upon their arrival in South Africa.
The court has heard that more than R800,000 was deposited into accused number four’s bank account on the night the rapper was killed.
It is alleged that the money came from a company owned by Sydney Mfundo Gcaba, a member of a prominent KwaZulu-Natal taxi family.
According to the state, the account was opened and closed on the same day, and investigators believe AKA was followed from the moment he landed at King Shaka International Airport.
