Woman to appear in court for allegedly murdering lover

The killing of 31-year-old, Xichavo Ntsanwisi ,has sent shockwaves across the country after he was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend.

The 22-year-old suspect who was arrested on Monday, is set to appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

It is alleged that police found Ntsanwisi lying on the kitchen floor with a stab wound to the upper chest near the neck.

Police spokesperson, Mavela Masondo, says Ntsanwisi was declared dead on the scene.

“Police received a complaint of stabbing in Midrand. On arrival, police found a man with a stab wound on the upper body. Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of a woman who was reported to be the girlfriend of the deceased,” Masondo said.

Many have expressed shock over the incident, saying the couple appeared happy just a day earlier at the DStv Delicious Festival on Sunday.

Midrand Woman Arrested for Murder A 22-year-old woman, Jo-Ann Ntokoto Mabasa from Giyani, was arrested for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, 31-year-old Xichavo Ntsanwisi, to death at Colnbrook Estate, Noordwyk, Midrand, in the early hours of 22 September 2025. Ntsanwisi, a Greater Giyani Municipality employee from Mhinga village, was found with a fatal stab wound in the kitchen. A knife was recovered at the scene, and paramedics declared him dead. Midrand-Based Woman Arrested for Murder of Boyfriend A 22-year-old Midrand woman from Kremetart in Giyani, Limpopo, has been arrested for allegedly murdering her boyfriend in the early hours of Monday, 22 September 2025. The victim, 31-year-old Mr. Xichavo Ntsanwisi, originally from Mhinga village outside Malamulele and an employee of the Greater Giyani Municipality, was found dead at Colnbrook Estate in Noordwyk, Midrand. Police responded to a complaint at around 01:58. On arrival, officers discovered Ntsanwisi lying on the kitchen floor with a stab wound to the upper chest near the neck. A knife with a yellow handle was found next to his body. The suspect, identified as Miss Jo-Ann Ntokoto Mabasa, was found at the scene and admitted to stabbing her boyfriend. Paramedics from Netcare Ambulance declared Ntsanwisi dead on the spot. Mabasa was arrested and taken into custody at SAPS Midrand.
