Politician, Liam Jacobs, has returned to the Democratic Alliance (DA), less than a year after leaving the party to join the Patriotic Alliance (PA).

In a video posted on X, Jacobs can be heard saying, “Sometimes the road out is the road back”.

It is understood that Jacobs will return to the DA in a consulting role.

He previously served as one of the DA’s youngest Members of Parliament before resigning abruptly from the party during a Facebook live broadcast.

In a social media post announcing his departure last year, Jacobs said he was “finally free and at home.”

The DA has welcomed Jacobs back, describing his return as a reflection of a party that is “big, growing and inclusive.”

Party leader, Geordin Hill-Lewis, said Jacobs left the PA after rejecting what he described as “chaos, politics and criminality.”

“People sometimes take the wrong road. What matters is whether they are willing to correct course and recommit themselves to the work of building a better South Africa. That is a sign of maturity and bravery. Liam has done that, and we welcome him back.”

“We do not and will never subscribe to the school of politics that says once a bridge is burnt, it can never be repaired. And that once someone has wronged you, they are dead to you. That is unhealthy in politics and in life,” Hill-Lewis added.
