Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, Miguel Cardoso, says he is well aware of the importance of goals in the CAF Champions League ahead of the final against Morocco’s ASFAR Rabat.
Sundowns, who are in search of a second elusive star, will host AS FAR in the first leg final of the tie at a sold-out Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday before travelling to Rabat for the return leg the following weekend.
Speaking to the media ahead of the first leg, Cardoso reflected on the tournament rules, particularly the importance of away goals, saying his side will aim to avoid conceding goals at home while securing a positive result.
“Considering the rules of the tournament and the fact that still in the CAF competitions the away goals are a factor that may decide games, obviously it’s important that we look for a positive result,” said Cardoso.
“But we should understand that conceding home always has an impact on the away match. Obviously, we want to make a good game but these kind of games are always complete games,” he added.
