Netball South Africa has made what the federation describes as a landmark announcement in the professionalisation of the sport.
The federation has confirmed an expanded group of 17 contracted national players, along with an additional seven training partners.
Players will be compensated according to structured categories aligned to their experience, number of caps, and roles within the national set-up.
Contracted players include Proteas captain, Khanyisa Chawane, Elmeré van den Bergh, Shadine van der Merwe and Kamogelo Maseko.
CEO, Adam Brooke, says the federation is looking towards building depth as it prepares for major global competitions, including next year’s World Cup in Sydney, Australia.
The new 12-month contracts took effect from the first of this month.
