The iconic Orlando Stadium, home of Soweto giants Orlando Pirates, has officially been renamed the Orlando Amstel Arena.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the stadium on Tuesday, confirming Amstel’s expanded sponsorship to include the venue’s naming rights.
Orlando Stadium has served as the Buccaneers’ home ground for more than 65 years. The renaming forms part of a five-year sponsorship agreement between the parties, which was finalised in August last year.
Speaking at the event, Orlando Pirates Chief Administrator, Mcebo Dlamini, highlighted the importance of infrastructure development in township football and the deep emotional bond between the club, the stadium and the surrounding community.
“The talent is there, but what is often missing is the infrastructure. We are rooted in the township, and this stadium means a lot to the people. It carries history, significance, and responsibility,” he said. “When you are associated with Orlando
Pirates, you are not just a commodity – you become part of the family. Once Always.”
