Several major roads across Gauteng will be closed to traffic between Friday and Saturday, for a dry run, ahead of next month’s G20 summit.

World leaders will gather in Johannesburg to discuss pressing global challenges and promote economic growth and collaboration.

Motorists are urged to plan in advance and use alternative routes, as high-security roads such as the N1, N3, and R24 will be affected.

The joint operation will take place in Tshwane, Ekurhuleni and Johannesburg, with closures on Rivonia Road, Grayston Drive, Jan Smuts Avenue, and Nasrec Road.

Motorists have also been advised to take note of traffic disruptions around Orlando Stadium ahead of the CAF Champions League match between Orlando Pirates and Saint-Eloi Lupopo tomorrow.

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) has urged spectators to arrive early to avoid congestion.

The match will kick off at 15h00 while gates open at 12h00.

Residents and commuters in Dobsonville have also been warned of traffic disruptions due to the CAF Confederation Cup soccer match between Kaizer Chiefs and AS Simba at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday.

Metro police say they will deploy officers in the township on Sunday to control the flow of traffic and order.
