Influential Mamelodi Sundowns captain, Themba Zwane, has suffered yet another injury setback.
Zwane left the field in the first half of the MTN8 semifinal first leg against Orlando Pirates last weekend and coach Miguel Cardoso said he is expected to be out for about two months.
The midfielder missed a large portion of the previous season after he suffered a career-threatening Achilles injury during Bafana Bafana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo.
“Unfortunately, Themba will be out for about two months,” said Cardoso.
Cardoso said Zwane’s injury is a huge blow.
“When a player or one part of the family is not 100%, is a big blow but he will come back stronger and soon he will be on the pitch.”
Despite the injury, Zwane has been named in Hugo Broos’ preliminary squad for nest month’s World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria respectively.

Some fans have reacted to the latest update.
Themba Zwane is needed at AFCON okes. I don’t how you guys have watched free flow Hugo Ball with Mshishi vs without him and not see that he is the matrix. Stop saying he’s finished and start praying for a fast recovery & return.

Lucas Ribeiro will be a great loss to Sundowns, no doubt.

This might just be Themba Zwane’s last season. There’s no way we can expect him to carry this team.
