Motorists are in for a tough time at the pumps this month as the price of fuel will rise sharply at midnight.
* 95 petrol will increase by 52c per litre
* 93 petrol will go up by 55c a litre
* Diesel by 82c and 84c per litre
* Illuminating paraffin will rise by 67c a litre.
The Department of Energy and Mineral Resources attributes the hikes to the increasing trend of crude oil prices, caused by the recent conflict between Iran and Israel, among other factors.
The hikes come after three consecutive months of price cuts.
Economist, Dawie Roodt, says while they will add pressure to cash-strapped South Africans, it’s not all doom and gloom.

The fuel price increase is expected to have a knock-on effect on the cost of living, possibly affecting public transport fares and delivery costs for food, amongst others.
