Former NFL star, Shannon Sharpe, has been slammed on social media this week over rape allegations.

Social media users have been hammering at the 56-year-old for his actions after a young woman filed a $50 million lawsuit against him, saying he raped her when she was only 19.

The Hall of Fame tight end turned sports media figure, a prominent voice on ESPN’s First Take says he will now take a step back to focus on his family as well as addressing the claims, which he has dismissed as false and disruptive.

Jane Doe, who is being represented by attorney Tony Buzbee, who has previously filed suits against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Jay Z amongst others, says she first met Sharpe at a gym in Los Angeles in 2023.

The 21-year-old says they had a consensual relationship for some time until Sharpe went on Instagram Live last October, apparently having sex with another woman. That video also went viral.

Amid the revelations, troubles just keep mounting for Sharpe after an audio went viral, in which he is “heard” threating to choke his accuser.

Despite the backlash, however, Sharpe’s attorney, Lanny Davis, is confident that the plaintiff doesn’t have anything on his client.

He claims that the 56-year-old and 21-year-old had engaged in role-playing at the time. He says the audio is real; it was captured the heat of the moment and his client didn’t mean it literally.

Reports suggest that the father of three, had offered at least $10 million to settle the suit before it was filed.

Social media users have now also brought up some old videos, including those of Comedian Katt Williams, who tried to warn Sharpe about some life choices.

Another video of Sharpe with actress Mo’Nique also resurfaced, where she warns him about dating young girls.

In it, she advised him to date women his age who can make a home for him.
