The Mommy Club star’s heartbreak causes a stir

The second marriage of Mommy Club star Nozipho Ntshangase’s husband, Zola, has South Africans in a tailspin.

They are blasting the engineer turned entrepreneur for going ahead to marry a young virgin from his Shembe Church, despite his wife’s objection.

Nozipho won the hearts and minds of many South Africans not just by how she carried herself on the popular reality TV show but also how she loved and nurtured her children, including her husband’s from previous relationships.

Nozipho, then a host of a YouTube channel, Life Lately with Nozipho, had a picture perfect life and was the envy of almost every woman before the heart-wrenching news of a crumbling home became gossip fodder.

A leaked video, which went viral, of her husband accusing her of holding him hostage, while trying to leave the house at night – in their shared car – added salt to injury.

The couple had been together for almost two decades, raising eight children, when everything came to a head.

Zola married his 25-year-old beau, Misokuhle Nomsheshe, over the weekend after paying lobola last year.

While Nozipho has moved on to accomplish great things, including a podcast that’s to be launched soon, some South Africans seem to remain hung up on the relationship, blasting Zola for betraying a woman who stood by him and raised children, some who weren’t biologically hers as her own. She even remained respectful and considerate towards him during last season’s The Mommy Club shoot, which was documented while she was right in the middle of the storm of having to let go of a man she once perceived as her best friend.

Most cultural groups used to practice polygamy and marrying young girls but have evolved, just one cultural group is still holding on to these primitive practices. It is a shame.

However, some social media users are at a loss as to why people are so worked up.

I have absolutely no problem with polygamy in-fact, I’m for it, BUT this is not IT. this is Bofebe dignified. They didn’t respect the 1st wife. And she wasn’t not involved in choosing this wife. This is why polygamy ends up being problematic, the aim is to build not to bulldoze.

We don’t hate polygamy, we hate how it is initiated. Nozipho broke down and visibly was unwell when her husband proposed this- 18 years after their civil wedding! To top it off, the way he started treating her and the children was disgusting to watch
