A couple that had a child even whilst incarcerated have shocked many, especially because they had never met in person.
29-year-old Daisy Link, who is in prison for shooting and killing her boyfriend, had a child with Joan Depaz, 24, who also doing time for murder.
The two who were previously held together at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Centre in Miami-Dade County, Florida in the United States, would communicate through the air conditioning vents in their cells.
They then started talking about having a baby and they then used bedding material to transport Depaz’s semen, through the vent, which he sent to her five times a day for about a month.
In the craziest circumstances, Link’s wish came true and she fell pregnant and described herself as the modern ‘Virgin Mary’.
Speaking in an interview with a local TV station, the pair say they both wanted a baby and when they started talking, they realised that they shared the same dream.
Link gave birth to their daughter in June 2024, and it is understood that the baby now lives with Depaz’s mother, who became a grandmother for the first time.
The pair, who are now in different jail cells, still talk on the phone and get to see their daughter via video calls.
The pair say they started talking and passing notes through the jail’s A/C vents. Daisy Link says she then agreed to Joan Depaz’s plan to try and impregnate her with his contraband semen. Their baby is now in the care of his mother. MD Corrections IA investigation is ongoing. 2/2 pic.twitter.com/zusLE3RQQH

Link’s mother says she was shocked to learn that her daughter was impregnated by another inmate.
Yes this has happens before. I remember a case in NYState corrections that the female became pregnant her hubby will come down to the visiting room with his sperm. They have a baby boy probably 4 years old. Insane and daring but it happens.
