A young Limpopo man has opened up about the abuse, he says, he suffered at the hands of his stepmother.
James Moloto’s story has tugged at the heartstrings of many and left others shocked.
He describes how much he hates his late father’s house in Senotlolo Village in Mpumalanga.
The 35-year-old says his bonus mother would have sex with him the whole night and would feed him grass before going to school, claiming that he turned into a goat at night.
“My Dad would leave me with her and only come back after a month, the whole month this Lady would force me into having sex with her. She would tie my penis with a thread (this was before I got circumcised), and she would ask me to pee so it could be a big, bigger.”
Moloto was 6 years old when this ordeal took place.
The TUT graduate says he was abused until grade 3.
“Fortunately, my mom came to fetch me as she didn’t like my condition when she came to visit.”
Moloto describes finding Christ as the greatest turning point in his life.
He shares how he moved from viewing sexual abuse as a normal thing to wanting his story to array that abuse doesn’t have to define one’s progress in life.
“This almost affected me in my teens, I’d have different sexual partners to try to convince myself what happened to me was normal.”
“There was a time in my life when I thought I didn’t want any kids because of my experience,” he says.
“I’m glad I went through that so I can give my son and future kids the best version of myself.”
Moloto says although the sexual abuse negatively affected how he related to women in the past, his staunch belief in God, since the age of 12, has helped him conquer.
After enduring so much as a minor, Moloto also had to witness his stepdad beat his mom.
“The next day, I’d have to go with her to the clinic and listen to her lie about how she fell.”
Moloto’s is a story of courage, although he spent years blaming himself for his experiences.
“After talking to someone, I realised I was never wrong and that I had to take back my power. Talking about it is part of the process, I hope it helps someone who’s doubting themselves because of an adult who was supposed to be a guardian, but they took advantage.”
