Young mother Lesego Peka’s fight for justice for her late son, Kaone, continues after successfully exhuming his remains today.
In not so many words, Peka took to social media to bid her son farewell after the process.
“The Lord has given, and the Lord has taken. Rest In Peace Kaone Peka. Heaven gained an angel.”
Every mother’s greatest fear befell Peka when she received a disturbing call from her son’s father one day, informing her that their son had drowned in a swimming pool at his house. He then, allegedly, quickly made funeral arrangements without her involvement.
Peka, who suspected foul play, shared her story on social media, capturing the hearts of many South Africans. Her cry for help gave rise to the hashtag #JusticeforbabyKaone.
The mother at first also had doubts about her son’s passing. She wanted to verify whether it was indeed her son’s body that had been buried.
According to her, at the time of tragedy, she was embroiled in a custody battle with the child’s father who had full custody of baby Kaone.
She has expressed gratitude for the support she’s received thus far.
The mother has also announced that she will be disassociating herself from certain people who have now added to her sorrow.
Messages of condolences and well wishes continue to pour in for the young mother, who is being hailed as brave by many.
Yaze yabuhlungu lendaba. Love and strength to Lesego. No mother should ever go through this ordeal in their lives RIPKaoneπ
