South Africans say the Sekhukhune United player, who was involved in a  deadly car accident, has fumbled the bag because of his recklessness.

The Babina Noko defender, Shaun Mogaila, is facing various charges, including culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving after a nine-year-old girl died in a crash he was involved in on Wednesday.

In a dashcam video that has been shared widely on social media, a black BMW, reportedly driven by him, collided head-on with a red Hyundai Grand i10 travelling in the opposite direction.

The one car that was involved in the deadly crash was carrying a mother and two learners. Nine-year-old Gomolemo Mavimbela unfortunately lost her life in the crash.

Mavimbela was declared on the scene whilst her mother and their neighbour’s child were left injured.

The mother is reportedly fighting for her life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a local hospital.

Authorities say they found suspected drugs, including possible cocaine, and weed edibles, in Mogaila’s vehicle.

The 29-year-old is said to have handed himself over to the police, hours after he allegedly fled the scene of the accident, which happened the morning Mogaila was in the team that beat Richard’s Bay FC 2-0 in the Betway Premiership.

His team released a statement, saying they can’t speak on the issue at hand.

It remains to be seen when he will appear in court.

Some South Africans have also expressed condolences to the family of the young girl who lost her life while also expressing their sadness at the fact that Mogaila has ruined his career.
