Siya and Rachel’s divorce news sends shockwaves

Social media is in tatters after the sudden news by Springboks captain, Siya Kolisi, and his wife, Rachel, that they are separating after eight years of marriage.

The couple released a joint statement on Instagram this evening, saying their decision to split was amicable.

The post was without a caption and quickly garnered over 14 000 likes after it was posted just before 6pm.

The Kolisis are deemed as rugby royalty by many South Africans.

Their split has, not surprisingly, left many hearts shattered with fans of the couple expressing shock that their marriage is ending.

The couple always shared their love for each other and their family on social media.

Siya and Rachel got married in 2016 and they have two children together, son Nicholas Siyamthanda and daughter, Keziah.

The couple has also been raising Siya’s half-siblings, Liyema and Liphelo, after the Springboks captain’s mother passed away in 2009.

The news also comes after Kolisi was named in Rassie Erasmus’ 34-man squad for their UK tour next month, where the Boks will face Scotland, England and Wales on their traditional end-of-year tour.

Social media users are having a meltdown over the split.
