Bogus medic known for penis enlargement surgeries nabbed

 

Thai authorities have arrested a 36-year-old man for performing penis augmentation surgeries for 20 years without professional training or qualifications.

Kittikorn Songsri says he taught himself how to do the procedure when he was 14.

Songsri is understood to have only achieved a Grade 9 level of education.

Reports suggest that the 36-year-old man would advertise his services online and charged about 5 000 baht (R2 500) and 20 000 baht (R10 000) for each operation.

His cover was blown after one of his patients developed a major infection.

Police then raided the townhouse Songsri operated out of. The move had been preceded by an undercover operation, where a makeshift office and equipment that did not meet the country’s hygiene standards were found.

He has been charged for running an unauthorised medical clinic as well as practicing without a license.

Sogsri is currently in custody and awaiting trial.

Sogsri’s arrest is the second such incident in recent years in Thailand.

In 2009, a 55-year-old former navy officer was also nabbed for practicing medicine for 20 years without a medical licence.

The arrest had followed a complaint from a local resident about a group of fake doctors providing abortion services.
