Owner of the famous Bob Cuts Hair Salon, Geraldine Kganakga, says she’s still reeling from the challenges presented by Covid-19.
She was responding to the string of non-payment complaints levelled against her by some of her former employees.
The entrepreneur is also accused of unfair labour practices.
Kganakga says since 20202 – her business has not been able to function fully, leading to the closure of 20 out of the 22 salons she previously owned.
She was speaking exclusively to YNews after a former employee took to social media to expose alleged unpleasant working conditions at the establishment.
Lungelo Khoza alleges that she was ‘blue-ticked’ when she reached out to Kganakga in a bid to find answers about her late payment.
Part of Khoza’s salary has now been paid and is now owed just over a R1 000.

Kgankga has admitted to struggling with paying salaries on time.
She says many other employees have not received their salaries in full, but arrangements have been made.
Kganakga has called on the government to assist struggling small businesses.
She lamented how she was on the verge of losing her home, while all her cars were repossessed.
The owner claims that she is still feeling the pinch of two years of shutdowns and Covid restrictions, with a debt of over R6 million in rentals.
Kganakga says she went from over 400 employees post-Covid to 40 after the pandemic that wreaked havoc across the globe, with some businesses still struggling to keep afloat.
