International relations expert, Professor John Stremlau says former US president Donald Trump will survive the attempted assassination as a ‘Trump ticket’ to garner votes.

The former statesman and presidential candidate was reportedly shot in the ear while he was addressing his supporters during a campaign trail on Saturday.

A 20-year-old man suspected to have been the assassin was later killed by secret service agents at the scene.

Incumbent President Joe Biden has called for calm and unity.

Biden says the attempted assassination of his predecessor is contrary to everything America stands for as a nation.

Meanwhile, Trump says the incident is a chance to bring America together.

It is reported that the former statesman will re-write his entire Republican National Convention speech and use Saturday’s attack as a historical moment.

Stremlau says Trump will use his surviving hit to lobby and woo voters.

The Professor says the former statesman will certainly put on a show at the convention this week, with his iconic picture shouting fight! Fight! Fight! Set to dominate his campaign.

While concerns mount over the conduct of the Secret Service agents, with some citing negligence, Stremlau says it’s important to allow authorities to do their work as investigations continue.

Trump is the third former president to survive an attempted assassination.

In contrast, the lives of other former leaders were not spared, including the likes of John F. Kennedy, William McKinley and Abraham Lincoln.

President Cyril Ramaphosa joined the masses in condemning the violent act against the leader.

Ramaphosa says the incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of extremism and intolerance.

“Political violence is the antithesis of democracy. I wish former President Trump a speedy recovery. ”

“We unequivocally denounce this political violence and earnestly hope that the citizens and leaders of America will have the fortitude and sagacity to reject violence and seek peaceful solutions.”
