It came just a few hours after the NPA informed the public that charges against the popular TV host, who is also known as Jub lamaswidi amaningi, had been dropped by the state.
The musician faced three counts of rape, two of attempted murder and one of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Responding to the developments, Maarohanye said he was over the moon.
“I feel relieved. The truth always prevails, I can finally get my life back.”
Skeem Saam actress, Amanda Du Pont, who had been in a relationship with the Ndikhokhele hitmaker had pressed charges against him, after he made degrading comments about her last year. Her move prompted other victims to come forth with their statements.
Civial rights organisation, #NotInMyName, has welcomed the NPA’s decision, saying it puts the matter to rest. Written by YNews Contributor, Lamile Miya.
