The state has withdrawn all charges against rapper, Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye.

The musician faced three counts of rape, two of attempted murder and one of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Jub Jub, who is no stranger to being at odds with the law, came under fire when he made degrading comments about his ex-lover, Amanda Du Pont, on a podcast.

The actress laid a rape charge against Jub Jub in February 2022, alleging that the offences occurred between 2006 and 2009.

After speaking out on social media in a touching video, three other women came forward with similar allegations.

Jub Jub handed himself over to the police and was later released on R10 000 bail.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Spokesperson in Gauteng, Phindi Mjonondwane, says the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) concluded that there are no reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution.

“This decision follows careful consideration of the police case docket, the prosecutor’s report and recommendations, coupled with information that was made available to the NPA through representations submitted by the defence to the office of the DPP.”

Mjonondwane adds that the NPA views all allegations of sexual violence in a serious light and will not hesitate to act on them when there is relevant and admissible evidence.

Jub Jub says today’s verdict brings a sense of relief and vindicates all those who supported him.
