Broos thanks South Africans for support

Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos, says having a full stadium was good for the confidence of the team as they took Zimbabwe last night in their World Cup qualifier match.

Fans came out in their numbers to the support the team at the Free State Stadium.

Bafana secured a vital 3-1 win over Zimbabwe to oust them in second spot in Group C, trailing leaders Rwanda by goal difference.

Benin are in third, with all three teams tied at seven points each.

Broos expressed his gratitude to the many fans who braved the cold weather to support his side.

Striker Iqraam Rayners opened the scoring for Bafana in the first minute of the first half, with Zimbabwe equalising in the second minute.

Thapelo Morena added two goals in the match, in which Bafana cruised to victory.

The win by the Africa Cup of Nations bronze medalists comes after they got a 1-1 draw against Nigeria in Uyo on Friday.

Bafana would have to finish first in their group to secure a ticket to the World Cup that’s set to take place in Mexico, Canada and the United States.

The other way that they could qualify is through the inter-continental playoffs.

Bafana’s qualifying campaign will resume next year March, where they will face Lesotho and Benin.
