Songstress and actress, Kelly Rowland, says she had to stand her ground during an argument with a security guard at the Cannes Film Festival in France this week.
A video of Rowland’s interaction with the guard has been making the rounds on social media.
In it, the actress can be seen being disturbed several times as she tries to make her way through the Red Carpet.
Do you understand how out of pocket you have to be for Kelly Rowland to have to check you?!
Literally, one of the sweetest people in the world, but don’t get it twisted.
What yall think she said? I think she said, “Don’t talk to me like that… I’m not a child.” pic.twitter.com/jpWNpdGSGV

While it remains unclear what straw broke the camel’s back during the interaction, Rowland says she has boundaries, and she stands by them.
She also insinuates that she might have been treated the way she was because of her skin colour.
“There were other women that attended that carpet who did not quite look like me and they didn’t get scolded or pushed off or told to get off, and I stood my ground.”

Award-winning founder and publisher of Glitter Magazine, Nikki Fowler, came out guns blazing drawing a contrast to how some people were welcomed on the red carpet compared to Rowland.
In a long post on X, Fowler bemoaned the prejudice the songstress experienced at the prestigious event.
Fowler, who has been visiting France for the past 30 years, says she’s also had to put some ignorant security personnel in their place at certain places.
“I know that Claire Huxtable finger Kelly has up is pointing out someone who wasn’t raised correctly and is acting a fool.”
Just waking up in Cannes with my espresso to see them disrespecting Kelly Rowland last night on the carpet.
The difference is striking in how ‘some’ are rushed off the steps with arms in her face and stepping on her dress and some, they will wait patiently for.

It’s certain people we don’t play about…
And Kelly Rowland is one of them. pic.twitter.com/0SLbozXdIv

People saying nonsensical things like “it’s always about race with them” which is a racial slur. People should be allowed to voice their experiences or oppression without being ridiculed for it Kelly Rowland wasn’t the only non-white person being manhandled off of the red carpet pic.twitter.com/tUckC2yaiS

What happened with Kelly Rowland at Cannes and Beyoncé with what was revealed about her deal with AMC, further proves that no matter how rich, and famous you become as a black woman, it still doesn’t shield you from racism and the systems in place to keep you under! pic.twitter.com/DnI8xlejlf

It was very clear Kelly Rowland was trying to take photos and they were rushing her then that security guard stepped on her dress and Kelly tried to correct her nicely and the security guard decided to be rude and Kelly said “Don’t talk to me like that” pic.twitter.com/cXnuXH6oZK

What we’re not going to do is try and paint THE Kelly Rowland as problematic and disrespectful. You NEVER heard ANYTHING about her in decades of Kelly being in this business. If she’s checking you, YOU’RE the damn the problem! pic.twitter.com/21yVI0USBv
