Former African Transformation Movement (ATM) member, Mzwanele Manyi, has joined the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
Manyi took to twitter to announce his move to the political party led by Julius Malema today, saying its strides found resonance with his personal convictions.
The decision comes as the country’s political parties gear up for next year’s provincial and national elections.
Manyi has been instrumental in raising the profile of the ATM, which he joined as the party’s chief of policy and strategy in 2019 after ditching the African National Congress (ANC).
At the time – he claimed the ATM’s membership was bigger than that of the ANC and the party was just not getting enough media coverage. And now, he says, the EFF is the only political party well poised to take over the ANC and is the real alternative that everyone has been asking about.
“The EFF has scale and demonstrable track record on accountability issues. Importantly, it is a listening party that genuinely engages the electorate before drawing up a manifesto.” says Manyi.
The red berets’ leadership has welcomed the former government spokesperson with open arms.
“Welcome to the revolutionary economic emancipation movement fighter Mzwanele. We are more than confident that you will add maximum value to the only reliable and dependable weapon in the hands of the oppressed,” says the party’s deputy president, Floyd Shivhambu.
EFF leader, Julius Malema, says Manyi’s credentials speak volumes, and they remain confident that he will make a massive contribution to the success of the struggle for economic freedom.
Manyi has committed to getting the work done, adding that he will not be a floating trophy in the EFF.
