We’d like to thank everyone who loves and supports our brand and we promise to only get better.
Take a look at our year at a glance:
April 2019 saw the new YFM theme and lineup start off the radio year! This year we pushed the notion that you can conquer and overcome through your own understanding and interpretation of Defy The Odds! This infiltrated into every show, event and initiative throughout the year, as well as how our on-air personalities curated content and carried themselves.

We partnered with the 2-day glamourous and all things beauty, Beauty Revolution event where attendees from all walks of life came to enjoy beauty masterclasses, inspiring panel talks, exclusive make-up goodies and so much more! And yep, we’ll probably do it again in 2020…watch this space!

Gather a dope panel of judges and some ambitious entrepreneurs…and you get The Put On by YFM! Each business had to pitch and explain why their idea was the best, followed by online voting. The Put On was truly a special initiative that created opportunities for business-minded individuals with great prizes up for grabs.

We rocked Soweto the only way we know how at the June edition of LivenReYired that featured the unforgettable and entertaining Holly Rey on stage. The Moja Café venue filled up, food and drinks made the rounds and fans partied until the late hours as our very own Zan-D and Nia Brown owned the event.

In light of Women’s Month, we brought WomYn 2 WomYn to life through an event focused on self-defense, dance, yoga & exercise and a discussion of important issues that affect the women of South Africa. Our very own Bontle Modiselle stole the show with a dance piece that went viral, thanks to her then cute baby bump that stole all the attention! Attendees were treated to a fun-filled day at Nelson Mandela Square, coupled with awesome take-home goodies bags.

Trace hosted it’s second annual TRACE Fest at Disoufeng in Soweto and this year’s theme was ‘The Ultimate 90s Street Bash’ as the venue was transformed into a fun backyard picnic, making it feel like a good old street party. People dressed the part and were treated to an insane line-up featuring Boity, Nadia Nakai, Thebe and so many more! Of course our YFM personalities Lebza Da Villain and Da Kruk tore up the decks while Mthaux and DJ Sabby were the MCs. We broadcasted live with Lula Odiba on the Throwback Riot which proved very fitting!
Definitely one of the biggest Spring events to take place in Pretoria! YFM’s LYFE happened on October 19 and it was lit as Sun Arena, Time Square filled up to watch our very own YTKO DJs Da Kruk, DJ Candii, Mellotik, DJ Zero, Lebza the Villain, Zan-D & Legendary Crisp take to the decks, followed by an insane line-up featuring the likes of AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Sho Madjozi, Nasty C, Boity, Nadia Nakai, Rowlene, Tellaman, A-Reece, DJ Sumbody and way many more! We were also celebrating our birthday month so if you were not there, you missed out on an epic celebration!

For the 2nd year, from last year, YFM collaborated with Rocking the Daisies and flew to Cape Town to party with a different (but same-same) group of youngins. To say fun was had and we were received well, is an understatement.
Have a look:
The 3-day event saw Braamfontein come to life even more and we were a partner, obviously! From Friday until Sunday music and entertainment took centre stage as various South African artists and DJs showcased their talents. Acts such as DBN Gogo, A-Reece, Riky Rick, Nasty-C, etc did their thing and boy did we mention how everyone came through with the drip?! The Warm Up, The Main Event & Secret Sunday pulled out all the stops and fun was had!
In true gamechanger-style, YFM was honoured to witness a music world record being obliterated! World class DJs Shimza and PH were the artists to create the masterpiece that is the 72-hour mix. Amplified by Extreme Energy, the pair went back-to-back playing hit-after-hit and getting the Soweto, Icon crowd into a Dezemba mood.

Fun in the sun was the order of the day as 3 of our YTKO DJs served heat on the decks at Happy Island in Muldersdrift. A party in water? Who could ask for anything better in Summer?! DJ Candii, DJ Zero and Lebza the Villain made people dance and truly get into the spirit of Dezemba.
Music and entertainment? What a way to wrap up the year 2019 in true YFM style!
