IDC offers funding opportunities for the arts industry

According to the National Film and Video Foundation, the South African film industry had a total of R42 million in box office earnings in the first half of 2019. This being almost a 247% increase from the first half of 2018.
In-studio, #KrunchWithKhutso host, Khutso Theledi, had Maiijang Mpherwane, IDC Head of Media and Audio Visual. Who highlighted funding opportunities in his department that are available to South African applicants.
Speaking on the overall criteria of most successful films such as ‘Loves lives here’, ‘Losing Lerato’and ‘Red Room,’ Mpherwane says having big names star in your project certainly helps. True as that may be, they are also costly, he adds. Thus, the IDC offers a number of funding opportunities for skilled film and art producers. Fortunately, the funding is not limited to just the film industry, people looking to, for example, open a radio station or study; are also considered.
