Government rejects SAA 10bn request

 Government has denied South African Airways(SAA)  a further R10 billion in funding for the business rescue process. Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has made it clear that government does not have the money to support SAA’s request. SARB cuts repo rate by 100 basis points

In an effort to ease financial conditions in the wake of Covid-19, the South African Reserve Bank (sarb) has taken a unanimous decision to cut the repo rate by 100 basis points, with effect from 15 April 2020.
