South Africa in the running to host 2027 FIFA World Cup

World football governing body, FIFA, has confirmed that South Africa is one of the four bidders to host the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup. The other three are from Brazil, a joint bid from the USA and Canada, and another from Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. Child sex trafficking kingpin Ackerman found guilty

The high court in Johannesburg has found Gerhard Ackerman (52) guilty of rape and sexual exploitation of children. The convicted rapist faced more than 730 charges, which included human trafficking, sexual grooming and possession of child pornography. Ackerman was charged alongside senior advocate Paul Kennedy who committed suicide shortly after he was arrested in 2022.
