The Gauteng Department of Health has warned against bribery at public hospitals and clinics, saying patients should not pay officials to bypass queues or receive preferential treatment.
The department says public healthcare services are not for sale and has urged patients to report officials who demand or accept money in exchange for services.
It is alleged that some patients are bribing officials to bypass queues when booking appointments, accessing patient files and collecting medication at public health facilities.
