MC Alger head coach, Rulani Mokwena, has denied allegations that he spied on Mamelodi Sundowns through leaked tactical information from suspended performance analyst, Mario Masha.
Sundowns recently suspended long-serving Masha, pending an internal investigation, after he was accused of leaking tactical information to former head coach Mokwena, who’s now in charge of MC Alger.
Mokwena was quizzed on the allegations ahead of his return to Loftus Versfeld ahead of Saturday’s CAF Champions League clash and insisted that he did not receive ‘any tactical or confidential information about Sundowns’.
He said the exchanges with Masha involved sharing old work and assisting him with a coaching course.
“Mario has not given me any any tactical or confidential information about Sundowns. The conversations referenced were professional football discussions, some personal relating to his UEFA licenses,” he said.
“At no point, and I repeat, at no point, were current Sundowns, tactical plans or confidential material shared with me. I rob Mario is a great man, someone I consider a friend, a former colleague, but above all, a hard working professional and a family man,” Mokwena said.
The two sides are set to face off on Saturday afternoon at Loftus Versfeld, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00.
