United States President, Donald Trump, has announced plans to review the federal immigration crackdown following the killings of two civilians in Minneapolis in less than a month.

In the latest incident, 37-year-old Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse, Alex Pretti, was gunned down by federal immigration agents during a scuffle.

The Trump administration is accusing Pretti of attempting to incite violence during the encounter.

Pretti’s death marks the second fatal shooting of a US citizen by immigration officers in Minneapolis. Earlier this month, 37-year-old Renée Good was shot and killed while sitting in her car.

The killings have sparked fresh protests in the city, with scores of Americans calling for the government to halt what they describe as a deadly immigration operation.

Minnesota Governor, Tim Walz, has appealed to the public, saying that even those who once supported federal immigration enforcement should reconsider their stance.

“I’ve got a question for all of you. What side do you want to be on?  The side of an all-powerful federal government that can kill, injure, menace, and kidnap its citizens off the streets?  Or on the side of a nurse at the VA hospital who died bearing witness to such government? We have got children in Minnesota hiding in their houses, afraid to go outside. Many of us grew up reading that story of Anne Frank,” Walz said.

“Somebody’s going to write that children’s story about Minnesota. There’s one person who can end this now.”
