The family of slain Alexandra businessman and community leader, Vincent Ndima, says his brutal killing has left the community shattered, describing him as a hero and a true compatriot.
Ndima was gunned down in a hail of bullets on Monday morning in what appears to have been a targeted ambush.
According to reports, he was attacked while driving, and it’s believed his vehicle crashed during the assault.
His death has sent shockwaves through Alexandra, where he was widely known for his efforts to uplift and empower others.
Ndima’s nephew and family spokesperson, Katlego Moche, said seeing the splattered blood and the shattered glasses from the car was deeply traumatic for the family.
Moche says while they still have a lot of unanswered questions, they will allow the law to take its course, with the hope that justice will prevail.
He also urged the public to avoid speculating about the motive behind the killing and to give the police the space to conduct a thorough investigation.
Moche described his uncle as a warm-hearted man who was known for his infectious smile and sharp sense of humour.
“He always encouraged a smile, even though you were going through a lot, solely because a smile uplifts the people around you. He was always a joker at heart.”
The family believes that true justice will only be served once those responsible are brought to book.
“Hopefully, we will get some of the answers, whether it was a planned hit, was it a hijacking, getting all of those pieces together, so that we can also go back to the child and explain to him how he lost his father.”
Ndima leaves behind his two-year-old son, partner and family.
