As the severe weather conditions continue to wreak havoc in the country, residents have been advised to exercise caution in their homes and while driving.

Infrastructure has been destroyed, leaving some people displaced and some without their cars, among other things.

On Wednesday, Gauteng was heavily affected by heavy rain that left roads flooded, and some cares submerged.

Some videos even showed rivers overflowing and some people said they have been left without electricity.

Speaking to Ynews, Naked Insurance co-founder, Ernest North, has advised motorists to rather wait out the rain instead of placing themselves in compromising situations.

Joburg EMS said it remains on high alert, advising motorists to avoid crossing flooded roads/low lying bridges.

Homeowners and tenants have been urged to ensure that their properties are able to withstand the damaging weather conditions.

North gave some advice for homeowners to prevent further losses in their home.
