Ayanda Allie breaks silence on BOSA expulsion

Former Build One South Africa (BOSA) Gauteng representative, Ayanda Allie, has broken her silence following her expulsion from the party she joined in 2024.

Allie says tensions between herself and the party’s leadership escalated when she declined to sign a Code of Conduct she claims required her to donate a month’s salary to the party annually, as well as an additional 10% of her gross monthly salary.

The former Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL) took to X to share her version of events, saying she had initially decided not to comment on the matter, but realised that, as a public representative, she owed the public an explanation.

In a statement, Allie says she later signed an amended policy after the requirement to donate a full month’s salary was removed. However, she claims the dispute over the party levy resurfaced during a disciplinary hearing, ultimately leading to her dismissal.

“During mediation, I was advised that I could begin requesting funding from the party for constituency activities going forward, so I agreed to commence paying the party levy.

“BOSA subsequently asked me to back pay two years of levies, and I in exchange, requested reimbursement for expenses that I had covered personally during the same period. We agreed to calculate and offset both amounts. No deadline was set, but while this process was underway, more misunderstandings arose over mayoral candidacies, ultimately leading to a disciplinary hearing. At the hearing, which was overseen by an independent chairperson, I admitted to withholding the party levy and explained my reasons.”

Allie says the chairperson ruled that her actions did not warrant dismissal, but the BOSA Board of Directors disagreed.

I was not going to comment but I realise that as a public representative, I owe you an explanation.

BOSA Board Chairperson, Stevens Mokgalapa, says the issues were under consideration for more than a year.

“This has been a long, protracted dispute that was started in July last year, and all the effort has been put in place to try and mediate and come up with an amicable resolution, which has not yielded any result.

“Ayanda Allie was given an opportunity to appeal the decision of the board as per the constitution of Build One South Africa and she has elected not to appeal the decision of the board. Hence, the decision of the board stands that Ayanda Allie’s membership of Build One South Africa  has been terminated.”

and he also wanted 10% of the other 11 months of the year.
