South Africa’s Davis Cup team will host Bosnia and Herzegovina in a World Group II, scheduled for September.
The draw took place on Thursday at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) headquarters in London, where the two nations were officially paired.
This will mark the second meeting between the two nations. Their previous encounter was in 2020 in Bosnia, where South Africa went down 3–1, setting the stage for an exciting rematch on home soil.
The tie follows South Africa’s dramatic 3–2 victory over Montenegro Davis Cup team in last weekend’s World Group II play-off.
Captain, Pietie Norval, welcomed another home fixture, set to take place between 18 and 20 September.
The tie will be South Africa’s fourth consecutive home encounter.
Norval said the home crowd and familiar conditions could prove decisive as South Africa pushes for a place in the World Group I promotion play-offs.
“I’m so excited about the draw. We’re very lucky to get another home tie because it always gives us an extra advantage with our fans being amazing as they are,” Norval said. “Bosnia and Herzegovina are a good team. We lost to them last time we played them and they’re ranked significantly higher than we are, but being a home tie we feel we’ve got a chance.
“Hopefully if everybody is healthy and available for selection we can put our best team forward and get the win.”
