Proteas fast bowler, Nandre Burger, says South Africa’s historic Test series win against India in Guwahati has given the team a boost ahead of the limited-overs tour.

South Africa sealed a scintillating 408-run victory in the second Test earlier this week, completing a 2-0 series sweep, their first series triumph on Indian soil in 25 years.

On Sunday, the Proteas will will turn their attention to One Day Internationals, with the first of three ODIs set to begin in Ranchi.

“The mood in the camp is very exciting. Everyone’s ready to go in a different format. Obviously, the test win is incredible,” Burger said.

“It’s great for South African cricket. It’s just to show that we’re here to keep dominating and that’s what we want to keep doing in all three formats.”

After spin-friendly wickets in the Test series, Burger expects batting-friendly conditions for the ODIs.

“I think in India, the one-day wickets are normally pretty good for batting; the scores are generally higher than all around the world,” said Burger.

“So, I think we can expect a few more runs. But I think, if we bowl well and put pressure on, obviously, spin will be quite crucial in the middle overs.

“But if we can bowl well as a unit, we can hopefully restrict them to scores or be able to chase down scores that we restrict them to.” he concluded.
