The Polokwane Magistrates’ Court has heard that popular musician Shebeshxt allegedly fired a shot at fans who were greeting and praising him.

According to National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson in Limpopo, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, the artist responded to the fans by saying “Kgane aletlale ka nna?” before firing a shot at them.

The Lekompo artist, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, appeared in court on Thursday after he was arrested during a police operation yesterday.

It’s alleged that the complainant and a friend were driving along Witklip Street in Ladanna, Polokwane, when they noticed the artist and greeted him out of excitement.

The bullet reportedly struck the complainant in the jaw and shattered the car window.

Shebeshxt faces charges of attempted murder, malicious damage to property, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The case has been postponed to 21 November for profiling. He remains in custody.

This is not the first time the musician has faced criminal charges. In 2022, he was charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a man in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo. That trial is set to begin from 17 to 19 February 2026 in the Lebowakgomo Regional Court.

He also faces two counts of discharging a firearm after allegedly firing shots in the air at his family home in Limpopo.

Some social media users have expressed their concerns about the artist’s behaviour.
