Civil society organisation, Stand Up SA, has given President Cyril Ramaphosa seven days to respond to a list of urgent demands.
The movement in partnership with the youth-led organisation Enough Is Enough, led a “Ramaphosa Must Go” march to the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Monday, accusing the President of being a weak and ineffective leader, citing his continued silence in the face of deepening economic, political, and social crises.
The organisations are calling for immediate government action on job creation, accountability, and the eradication of systemic corruption, which they say are crippling the country and eroding public trust.

The march comes as the country’s official unemployment rate remains alarmingly high at over 33%.
According to Stats SA’s first quarter report, youth unemployment continues to soar — with 62.4% of 15–24 year-olds currently jobless, the highest among all age groups.
Stand Up SA spokesperson, Khustaz Mthwente, criticised President Cyril Ramaphosa for neglecting his constitutional responsibilities, saying the President has failed to adequately address the country’s growing unemployment crisis.
One protester raised concern over recent political developments — including the establishment of the Madlanga Commission and the Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee — as evidence of growing political interference in the justice system.
The probes follow explosive claims made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who alleged that high-ranking SAPS officials and politicians are colluding with criminals.
“The President has watched this situation deteriorate without any decisive action. The youth are suffering while he remains silent,” said Mthwente.
The demonstrators are also calling for transparent governance, urgent interventions to stimulate job creation, and the removal of officials implicated in corruption.
They are also demanding that the President publicly account for the lack of progress on key economic and anti-corruption reforms promised at the start of his term.
The group has given the Presidency seven working days to formally respond to their demands — warning that failure to act will result in widespread protests across the country.
