The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Gauteng have denied knowledge of any defamation case being opened against the party by Operation Dudula.
EFF Gauteng Chairperson, Nkululeko Dunga, stated that the party has not been formally informed of any legal action.
“We are not aware of any case opened up and what the charges are and directed at who as well,” said Dunga.

This follows claims by Operation Dudula President, Zandile Dabula, who announced over the weekend that her organisation had laid a defamation charge against the EFF at the Alexandra Police Station.
The tensions between the two organisations have escalated in recent weeks. The EFF recently alleged that Operation Dudula was responsible for inciting violence and unlawfully targeting foreign nationals.
These allegations stem from an incident involving the death of a one-year-old baby, who was allegedly denied medical treatment at a public healthcare facility.
In response, Dabula dismissed the EFF’s claims as false.
“I am at the Alexandra police station today and this comes after EFF members have been claiming that they have opened a case of murder against me and my organisation. That is not true. We have confirmed this with the Alexandra police station. Only the state can open a case on behalf of another person,” says Dabula.

The move has been welcomed by the Progressive Forces of South Africa (PFSA), a group aligned with Operation Dudula’s anti-illegal immigration stance. PFSA has publicly condemned the EFF, accusing it of silencing patriotic voices.
The PFSA’s, Bonanag Sepoloane, expressed full support for Dabula’s legal action.
Operation Dudula, alongside other anti-illegal immigration groups, have been at the centre of national controversy for blocking access to public services — including healthcare and education — for undocumented immigrants, arguing that these groups are burdening the country’s resources.
