Orlando Pirates head coach, Abdeslam Ouaddou, says he is hoping that young starlet, Relebohile Mofokeng, will stay at the club ahead of the new league season.

The 20 year old from the Vaal has emerged as one of the leading talents in South African football and his rise has even seen him break into the Bafana Bafana setup.

Recently, Mofokeng has been strongly linked with a move to Israel and Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq, the club that secured the services of his Mohau Nkota from the Buccaneers last month.

Ouaddou says Mofokeng is crucial to the Buccaneers’ campaign.

“Well I read this news as well, with such a talented player, of course it attracts a lot of clubs, but I trust my board. I trust the club, because he’s definitely one of our major players this season, we need him, to compete in the highest level, we need these kinds of players in our team,” Ouaddou said.

The talented player has won back-to-back Young Player of the Year awards, at the annual Premier Soccer League awards.

Mofokeng has made 90 appearances for Pirates since his 2023 promotion from the DStv Diski Challenge team, scoring 18 goals and bagging 22 assists.
