A handwritten note found on Manhattan gunman, Shane Tamura, suggests that he may have been suffering from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain condition linked to repeated head trauma.

The 25-year-old entered a prominent Midtown Manhattan skyscraper guns blazing and opened fire at random, killing four people, before turning the gun on himself.

It is reported that Tamura had been trying to get into the National Football League (NFL) offices located in the same building where the shooting took place, but took the wrong elevator.

On the note found on him, he wrote a list of names that seem to have been his target.

“The league knowingly concealed the dangers to our brains, to maximise profits. They failed us.”

According to the police, the man who was carrying a rifle started by opening fire on an NYPD officer, before shooting a woman who took cover behind a pillar.

He also shot a security guard, who was behind a security desk and a man in the lobby.

Four other victims were treated for minor injuries sustained while attempting to flee the scene.

The brazen act by the 25-year-old has sparked outrage on social media, with many condemning the violent rampage.
