Orlando Pirates defender, Nkosinathi Sibisi, says the team is looking forward to the new season and they plan to win all trophies.

The Buccaneers returned from their pre-season tour in Spain in preparation for what promises to be a thrilling 2025/26 campaign.

Pirates finished the previous season as runners-up in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), behind Mamelodi Sundowns, and reached the semi-final of the CAF Champions League.

The 2025/26 PSL season kicks off in nine days.

Sibisi told YSports they will work hard to have a successful season.

He says the pre-season tour was a success and synergy built in Spain will definitely play a huge role in their thatha zonke (take everything) campaign.

Pirates finished their pre-season tour in style, clinching a 2-0 victory over Granada in their final friendly match.

Ezimyama Ngenkani will get the new campaign underway with an MTN8 quarter-final clash against Polokwane City on August 2, with the defending champions looking to win their fourth successive title.

Sibisi says while they expect a tough match, they are aiming for victory.

Orlando Pirates centre-back, Olisa Ndah, says the team has worked really hard, preparing for the new season.

The 27-year-old suffered a setback when he re-aggravated his injury (stress fracture), and was sidelined for month – also missing out on the pre-season tour.

He says getting back on the field has been his main focus.

With 11 news signings, Olisa believes that the players will add another edge to the team.

The Buccaneers recently welcomed the likes of Sipho Mbule, Oswin Appollis, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Yanela Mbuthuma, Sihle Nduli, Masindi Nemtajela, Kamogelo Sebelebele, Tshepho Mashiloane, Nkosikhona Ndaba, and Tshepang Moremi, into the team.

Pirates have also strengthened the side, by appointing Abdeslam Ouaddou as the new head coach.

The 46-year-old former Marumo Gallants coach succeeds Jose Riviero, who left the Soweto Giants before his contract ran out last season.

The Moroccan-born Ouaddou will have big shoes to fill as Riviero won three MTN8 titles in a row and two Nedbank Cup crowns.

Pirates also launched the kits for the 2025/26 season, in which the home shirt is fully black with a touch of white and red symbolising – the strength and passion synonymous with the Buccaneers.

The new away jersey introduces a bold, fresh concept, which Adidas Football’s Bob Maphosa has described as innovative.

According to Maphosa, it was inspired by the pulse of Johannesburg.
